Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
The short version: Denwise is self-hosted software that runs on hardware in your home. Your family's data — calendar, photos, chores, budget, camera feeds — stays on your device. It is not sent to us. The only things our servers ever see are what we need to sell you a license and deliver software updates: your purchase email, an anonymous hub ID, and your update/license status.
1. Who we are
"Denwise," "we," "us," and "our" refer to [legal entity name], the provider of the Denwise software and the website at denwise.app. You can reach us at [privacy contact email].
2. What stays on your device (almost everything)
Denwise is designed so your household information never leaves your home. The following are stored and processed entirely on the device you run Denwise on, and are never transmitted to us:
- Your calendars and events, chores and points, meal plans, budget, bills, and accounts;
- Your photos (the screensaver) and any documents you store;
- Your camera feeds — these stream directly from your cameras to your display on your local network;
- Any credentials you enter (camera passwords, your calendar sign-in, your AI provider key), which are stored only on your device.
If you connect a Google Calendar, that connection is between your device and Google under Google's terms; we are not in the middle of it.
3. What our servers receive
a. Software updates & licensing
To check for and deliver updates and to manage your license, your hub contacts our update service. In doing so it sends:
- a hub App ID — an anonymous identifier your device generates for itself (it is not your name and does not identify you personally);
- the version it is running and the update channel you chose;
- your license key / status when you activate or renew, so we can confirm your updates are current.
We store, against that App ID, your license tier, purchase date, update-window/expiry, and the email associated with your purchase — solely to deliver updates and support your license. We do not use it for advertising and do not sell it.
b. Feedback you choose to send
If you use the in-app "Feedback & Issues" feature, the title and text you submit are sent to our issue tracker so we can act on it. The text is length-limited and scrubbed of obvious secrets before it leaves your device. Don't include sensitive personal information in feedback.
4. Payments
Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record. They handle your payment details and billing; we never see or store your card information. We receive your name, email, and order details to fulfill and license your purchase. Lemon Squeezy's handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policy.
5. AI features
Denwise's optional AI helper uses your own API key for the provider you choose (e.g. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI). When you use it, your prompts go directly from your device to that provider under their terms — they do not pass through us, and we do not see or store them.
6. The denwise.app website
This marketing site is static. [We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (no personal tracking) / We use no analytics — choose one]. The interactive demo runs entirely in your browser with sample data and stores nothing.
7. Cookies & tracking
The Denwise software uses a session cookie on your own device only to keep you signed in to your hub locally. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
8. Data retention & your choices
We keep license/update records for as long as your license is active and as needed for support, tax, and legal purposes. You may request access to or deletion of the limited information we hold (your email, App ID, and license status) by emailing [privacy contact email]. Because your household data lives on your device, you control it directly — delete it by removing it on the device.
9. Children
Denwise is family software, but it does not create online accounts for your children on our servers — family members exist only on your local device. We do not knowingly collect personal information about children through our servers.
10. Changes & contact
We may update this policy; we'll change the date above and, for material changes, note it on this page. Questions: [privacy contact email].
